There is an important progression in our response to salvation: believing, repenting, and being baptized.
Believing
Jesus Christ was born of a virgin
Jesus is the Son of God
Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins so we will not be judged for them
Jesus resurrected from the grave on the 3rd day and is still alive today
Repentance
It is also important that we not only believe that Jesus died to take away our sins, but for us to be intentional to repent of our sins. Repentance is when we take ownership of our wrongs, confess them to God, ask Him to forgive us, and commit to turning away from them so we can live fully for God.
If you have done this and have a clear conscience before God, praise God!
If you have not given this your full attention, please take time to work through your heart and do the repentance process for each thing that the Holy Spirit brings to your attention. Please also, once you have thoroughly confessed all sins and asked for forgiveness, make sure to take time, in faith, to allow Jesus to minister His love and forgiveness to you. It will also be important that you forgive yourself. Repentance restores the standard with God, and it resets you into right standing with God in a way that you can feel confident before Him.
Baptism
Baptism is a statement that you are ready to die to your old ways, to live fully for Jesus, and to follow Him. This is how we become His disciples and He becomes our Lord.
When:
As scheduled.
We will be doing our baptisms during the 10 AM church service. After worship, we will have a brief time of announcements. It will be at the beginning of the announcement time that you will be queued to go to the restroom to change into your baptism clothes (see below). Once you are finished changing, you will return to the sanctuary.
After announcements and offering, Jesse will give a message on baptism. Then we will proceed with the baptisms after the message.
How we baptize:
At Overflow Church, we do full immersion baptism. You will sit in the baptistry with your legs in front of you. Jesse will ask you a few questions to confirm your faith. Then you will hold your breath while he has one hand on your back and the other hand to help dunk you under the water for a brief moment and then pull you right back up. Then we will take a moment to celebrate this powerful experience with you!
After your turn is over, you will step out of the baptistry to the side to allow the next person to come in. At that time, you will need to get dried off as much as you can in a designated area.
What to bring:
Please bring a change of clothes that you are ok to get wet in. We ask that you wear black (or dark) top and bottoms. Water shorts (that are modest) for the bottom. Ladies, we recommend that you also wear a bathing suit or sports bra under your top for modesty.
Please also bring a large towel (consider 2 if you have long hair). We will hope for you to get as dry as possible to help avoid dripping water on the carpets and tile floors.
Flip-flops or some form or easy slip on shoes to help you get from baptistry to restrooms safely.
Who to bring:
We encourage you to invite your family and friends. If the sanctuary gets full, we have more seats in overflow room.

More info may come before that day, so please be watching your email just in case.
